3:30PM: Quotients of unipotent groups

Harm Derksen

Actions of unipotent groups on affine variety are very different from actions of reductive groups. I will discuss nice examples as well as pathological examples of unipotent group actions and quotients. I will also discuss joint work with Gregor Kemper on an algorithm for invariant rings of unipotent groups.

5:00PM: Geometric Igusa integrals

Yuri Tschinkel

I will describe geometric approaches to the computation of Mellin transforms of local heights and related p-adic oscillatory integrals and discuss applications to analytic and adelic geometry. This is joint work with A. Chambert-Loir.
