3:45PM: Matrix Representations of 6-fold covers

Abstract: My main goal is to explain an elegant connection between Gale duality and the determinantal representations of an ideal of 6 points. I will spend much of my talk discussing my motivation for studying this question, as well as giving an introduction to Gale duality.

5:00PM: Geometry of the Frobenius problem and continued fractions

David Berlekamp

I will describe how the Frobenius problem (finding the maximal integer in the complement of an additive semigroup generated by some positive integers with gcd 1) is related to convex hulls of integer points in simplicial cones, and give some ideas of related algorithms.
